Print Screen Functionality on Terminal Server Client (192523)

SYMPTOMS

The ALT-PRINT SCREEN functionality that pastes a current screen shot to the Clipboard in Windows 95, and Windows NT is not available on the RDP version 4.0 client connecting to a Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server. The functionality is available on the Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition, console.

CAUSE

This functionality is not available through the Microsoft Windows NT Terminal Server using RDP version 4.0 and the RDP version 4.0 Client.

RESOLUTION

This functionality has been added on the Windows 2000 Server with Terminal Services and the RDP 5.0 client and Advanced Client.

CTRL+ALT+MINUS SIGN (-) symbol on the numeric keypad

Places a snapshot of the active window, within the client, on the Terminal server clipboard (provides the same functionality as pressing PRINT SCREEN on a local computer).

CTRL+ALT+PLUS SIGN (+) symbol on the numeric keypad

Places a snapshot of the entire client window area on the Terminal server clipboard (provides the same functionality as pressing ALT+PRINT SCREEN on a local computer).
