PRJ98: Cannot Switch Oracle Databases While Saving a Project (192389)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Project 98 for Windows
This article was previously published under Q192389 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Project 98, when you save a project to an Oracle database, the
project may be saved to a different database than the one intended.
CAUSE
This problem may occur when all of the following conditions are true:
- You open a project that has been saved to an Oracle database.
- You save a second project to a second Oracle database (different
than the database where the first open project is saved).
- You save the second project by selecting the DSN to which the first
project has been saved, and then edit the DSN during the save
process to reflect the second database.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, use either of the following methods.
Method 1 (Preferred Method)
Create a separate Data Source Name (DSN) entry for the database where you
want to save your project. To do this, click New in the Select Data Source dialog box and follow the instructions. Use this new DSN when saving your project.
Method 2
Close any other open projects and then save your project.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
