PI: ErrMsg: Pitasks.dll Was Unable to Register (192098)

During Microsoft Picture It! setup you may receive the following error.
Pitasks.dll was unable to register itself in the system registry.
followed by:
Microsoft Picture It! 2.0 Setup was not completed successfully.
CAUSE
Old, corrupt, or incompatible versions of certain DLL files may cause this
problem.
RESOLUTION
To resolve the setup error, follow these steps:
- Restart your computer to a command prompt.
- At the command prompt, type cd\windows\system, and then press ENTER.
- Type the following lines, pressing ENTER after you type each line:
ren mfc40.dll mfc40.pss
ren mfc42.dll mfc42.pss
ren msvcrt.dll msvcrt.pss
ren msvcrt40.dll msvcrt40.pss
ren olepro32.dll olepro32.pss
- Restart your computer.
- Click the Start button, point to Windows Explorer and
browse to the following folder:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Picture It!
If you installed Picture It! to a different location or you gave the
folder another name, follow the path to that folder.
- In the Microsoft Picture It! folder you may see two subfolders
My Pictures and Slide Shows. If there are files in the folder, move the
folder to the root of the drive. Disregard Mscreate.dir
as a file.
- Delete the Microsoft Picture It! folder and any remaining subfolders.
- Restart Windows.
- Make sure that all anti-virus software, memory managers, and other
utilities are disabled. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to view a list of programs.
- Run Picture It! setup.
If the fix described does not resolve the problem Use Safe Mode Setup as a
workaround. On the Help menu, click Contents and Index and on the Index tab
type "pictureit safe" (without quotation marks) to find instructions
