FP98: Prompt to Enter "at Least 'x' characters" Submitting Form (191654)

You may receive a message similar to the following when you submit a form
from a web browser:
Please enter at least x characters in the "<field name>" field.
where x represents the minimum data length and <field name> represents the
name or display name of the form field.
NOTE: The minimum data length and display name are set in the Text Box
Validation dialog box (right-click the form field and then click Form
Field Validation). The name of the field is set in the Text Box
Properties dialog box (right-click the form field and then click Form
Field Properties). The display name overrides the name assigned to the
form field.
This message appears whether or not you selected the Required check box in
the Text Box Validation dialog box.
CAUSE
The validation script run by FrontPage requires that you enter the minimum
number of characters specified in the Minimum Length box in the Text Box
Validation dialog box.
RESOLUTION
When you receive the message described in the "Symptoms" section of this
article, note the number of characters you need to type and then click OK.
Enter the number of characters indicated by the message in the form field
and then submit the form.

Do not enter a value in the Minimum Length box in the Text Box Validation
dialog box.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article.
