PRJ98: User Information Does Not Appear in Splash Screen (191232)

SYMPTOMS

When you start Microsoft Project 98, the user name may be displayed in the splash screen as PLammer Name, the company name may be displayed as Uninstalled Version, and the serial number may be displayed as No Serial Number.

NOTE: This information also appears when you click About Microsoft Project on the Help menu.

CAUSE

Cause 1

This problem may occur if you reinstall a Run from Network Server (RNS) installation of Project 98.

Cause 2

This problem may also occur when the following conditions are true:

You install Microsoft Project 98 from an administrative installation point that is located on a network server.
-and-
You run the Setup program, using any of the following /q or /qn switches to perform a quiet installation:
```
      /q   /q0   /q1   /qt   /qn1   /qnt
					
```

For example, the problem may occur if you run the Setup program using the following command line:

\\server\share\setup.exe /q1

WORKAROUND

Workaround for Cause 1

To work around this problem, run Setup and click Remove All before reinstalling Microsoft Project 98.

Workaround for Cause 2

To work around this problem, run Setup and click Remove All. Then, run Setup again without using a /q or /qn switch to reinstall Project.
