PPT97: Columns or Rows Missing from Inserted Gantt Chart (189934)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 97 for Windows
- Microsoft Project for Windows 4.0
- Microsoft Project 98 for Windows
This article was previously published under Q189934 SYMPTOMS
If you insert a Gantt chart from Microsoft Project into PowerPoint,
beginning and ending columns or rows may be missing. If you resize
the object or try inserting the same object again, the results are
the same.
CAUSE
Microsoft Project can only copy the information in the current window
to the Clipboard. Therefore, if more than one screen of information
is selected, only the information on the screen at the time the Copy
command is executed is copied to the Clipboard.
WORKAROUNDMethod 1: Reduce the Font Size
Reduce the total size of the Gantt chart by reducing the text size. To do
this, follow these steps:
- In Microsoft Project, click Text Styles on the Format menu.
- From the Item To Change list, click All.
- Click a smaller font size. Click OK.
Reduce the font size until the entire project is visible at once. Now,
when you use a copy and paste operation, the Gantt chart appears in its
entirety.
Method 2: Copy as a PictureNOTE: This method works only with Microsoft Project 98 or later, using Project's CopyPicture feature:
- In Project 98, on the Standard Toolbar, click Copy Picture.
- Select Render Image type as For Screen.
- Select the Copy range to Selected Rows.
- Set the TimeScale to As shown on screen.
- Click OK.
- In PowerPoint 97, on the Edit menu, point to Paste Special, then click on Picture (Enhanced Metafile).
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
