PRJ98: Task with Incomplete Resource Assignment Shows Critical (189869)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Project 98 for Windows
This article was previously published under Q189869 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Project 98, when you apply progress to a resource assignment
of a non-critical task, or you change a resource assignment of a non-
critical task the task may become critical.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because Project incorrectly calculates slack for the
task which is used to determining the task is critical. This will occur for
non-critical tasks with the following conditions:
- Tasks that have more than one resource assigned.
- At least one assignment is complete.
- One or more resource assignments for the task have Actual Work and
Remaining Work greater than zero and the assignment is not
complete.
When all assignments are complete, the task will properly appear as non-
critical.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
