Trailing Gaps After Individually Formatted Characters (189481)

You may see trailing gaps (spacing), which you did not type, between text
characters you typed in a cell.
CAUSE
This problem can occur when you apply the Italic font style to one or more
characters in a cell in which the characters are formatted with varying
font sizes.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article.
