BUG: State Validation Error Occurs If Using New Database Wizard (189407)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Visual InterDev 1.0
This article was previously published under Q189407 SYMPTOMS
When trying to use the "New Database Wizard" in Visual InterDev the error
message "State Validation Error" may occur between Steps 1 and 2 of the
wizard. After clicking OK Visual InterDev shuts down.
CAUSE
This is currently caused by a limitation in Visual InterDev 1.0. If the
disk partition on the SQL Server machine where you are trying to create the
database has more than 2.1 GB of available hard drive space, this error
will occur.
RESOLUTION
The current resolution is to reduce the amount of available hard-drive
space on the SQL partition so that it is less than 2.1 GB. This can be done
by either increasing the size of the database devices in SQL or by moving
the SQL Server to a smaller partition.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed
at the beginning of this article. We are researching this bug and will post
new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes
available.
