Plus! 98: Tasks Scheduled Using Task Scheduler No Longer Run (189392)

SYMPTOMS

When you remove Microsoft Plus! 98, some tasks or programs scheduled using Task Scheduler may no longer run.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if tasks or programs specific to Plus! 98, such as Desktop Theme rotation, are scheduled using Task Scheduler.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, delete any tasks or programs specific to Plus! 98 from Task Scheduler. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Scheduled Tasks.
  2. Click any task or program specific to Plus! 98, such as Desktop Themes.
  3. On the File menu, click Delete.
  4. When you are prompted to confirm the file deletion, click Yes.
  5. Repeat steps 2-4 for any other tasks or programs specific to Plus! 98.
  6. Quit Task Scheduler.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Plus! 98, version 1.0.

When Task Scheduler is running, "Could Not Start" appears in the Status field of any tasks or programs specific to Plus! 98. Although the tasks or programs are still listed in Task Scheduler, the shortcuts to the tasks are broken when you remove Plus! 98.
