PUB97: Object Border Hard to See When Dragging Object (189375)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Publisher 97

This article was previously published under Q189375

SYMPTOMS

When dragging a text box or object around your publication, the object's outline is hard to see against the white page.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs after creating a custom color scheme in Windows or a color scheme that uses a dark color for three-dimensional (3-D) objects. Publisher obtains the color information from the registry and uses a contrasting color for object borders. For example, if you choose blue for a three-dimensional object, you will see a yellow border when dragging the object in Publisher, and if you choose black, you will see a white border.

RESOLUTION

To improve the contrast of the outline border, use the Windows default color scheme or select a lighter color for 3-D objects. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. On the Windows Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the Display icon.
  3. Click the Appearance tab.
  4. From the Display list, select one of the Windows Standard options.

    -or-

From the Item list, select #D Objects and then select a color from the Color list.
  5. Click Apply.
  6. Click OK.
