The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 98 Macintosh Edition
This article was previously published under Q188736 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft PowerPoint 98 Macintosh Edition, when you scale a text box or
an AutoShape, the size of text within that object does not change. This
behavior is different from that of earlier versions of PowerPoint in which the
text was scaled proportionately with the object.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior and simulate the behavior of scaling text, convert
the text box into a picture. To do this, follow these steps:
- Make a back-up of your presentation.
- Select the text box you want to scale.
- On the Edit menu, click Cut.
- On the Edit menu, click Paste Special.
- In the Paste Special dialog box, click Picture, and then click OK.
- Select the text box and then click Picture on the Format menu.
- In the Format Picture dialog box, click the Size tab.
- Adjust the scale percentage for the height and width, and click OK.
Note that the text box is now a picture. To edit the text, you must ungroup
the picture. To do this, follow these steps:
- Select the picture.
- On the Draw menu, click Ungroup.
- When you receive a message similar to the following
This is an imported picture, not a group. Convert it to a Microsoft
Office drawing?
click Yes to convert the picture to an AutoShape.
You can now edit the text. A good rule of thumb is to have the exact text you
want before you convert the text box to a picture.
