Cannot Send Fax with the SBS Fax Client After Creating Mail Merge (188239)

After you create a Mail Merge in Microsoft Word 97 for Windows and you
merge to Electronic Fax, which uses the Small Business Server Faxing client
1.0, the following error message may appear in your Inbox:
The Fax transport service failed to deliver the message to this
recipient. Could not render all attachments.
CAUSE
This error occurs when "Send document as an attachment" is chosen in Word
97 for Windows.
RESOLUTION
To work around this problem, use the following steps to merge the document
without the "Send document as an attachment" option:
- Open your mail merge main document.
- On the Tools menu, click Mail Merge.
- From the Mail Merge Helper, click Merge.
- In the Merge dialog box, change the Merge To box to Electronic Fax.
- Click Setup, click to clear the "Send document as an attachment" check
box, and then click OK.
- Click Merge to perform your mail merge.
NOTE: The text in the e-mail message may not be formatted the way you want
it to be formatted.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft BackOffice Small
Business Server versions 4.0 and 4.0a.
