WD98: Citations Lost Converting Word 5/6 Documents with EndNote (184961)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition
This article was previously published under Q184961 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition, when you open a document that was
created using EndNote's Word 5 Plug-In Module or Word 6 Add-in, citations
needed for the bibliography are corrupted.
Additionally, you may not be able to format or unformat Word 5 documents
created with the Plug-In Module, or Word 6 documents formatted with the Add-
in.
CAUSE
When you open a Word 5 Plug-In Module or a Word 6 Add-in document in Word
98 Macintosh Edition, and save it before converting; the field codes become
corrupted, and EndNote will not recognize them.
When you open these documents in Word 98 Macintosh Edition, running the
Format Bibliography or Unformat Citations command (which is necessary to
generate the bibliography) converts that document into a Word 98 Add-in
document.
