OFF98: Unexpected Quit Recording a Macro or Starting VBE (184868)

SYMPTOMS

In any of the Microsoft Office 98 Macintosh Edition programs, the program may unexpectedly quit without displaying an error message when you perform any of the following actions:
  • You try to record a macro. -or-

  • You open a file that contains a macro. -or-

  • You try to start the Visual Basic Editor. -or-

  • You try to run a macro. -or-

  • You try to run a Wizard.

CAUSE

Your Microsoft Office 98 program may quit if the following conditions are true:
  • You move or delete the VBA Localization Library (1) file from the Microsoft Office 98:Office folder. -and-

  • You perform an action that requires that the Visual Basic Editor be started (any one of the items listed in the "Symptoms" section).

WORKAROUND

To work around these problems, follow these steps:

  1. Quit any running Office 98 programs.
  2. If you have moved the VBA Localization Library (1) file, move it back into the Microsoft Office 98:Office folder.

    If you have deleted the VBA Localization Library (1) file, make a copy from the Microsoft Office 98:Office folder on the root directory of the Office 98 compact disc to the Microsoft Office 98:Office folder on your hard disk.
  3. Restart the Office 98 program.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Office 98 Macintosh Edition.
