FP98: Upgrade Fails If Bin Folder Is Compressed in Windows NT (184864)

When you attempt to install the upgrade version of FrontPage on a Windows
NT computer, the Setup program fails to find an earlier version of
FrontPage even though it is currently installed.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs if the "\Program Files\Microsoft FrontPage\Bin" folder
is compressed.
WORKAROUND
NOTE: Because there are several versions of Windows, the following steps
may be different on your computer. If they are, please consult your product
documentation to complete these steps.
To work around this problem, follow these steps:
- On the Windows Start menu, point to Programs, and then click Windows
NT Explorer.
NOTE: If you installed Microsoft FrontPage in a folder other than the
default folder, double-click that folder.
- Double-click the C:\Program Files\Microsoft FrontPage folder.
- Right-click the Bin folder, and then click Properties.
- Click to clear the Compress check box, and click OK.
- Click Also Uncompress Subfolders and then click OK.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article.
