PUB98: Out of Memory Error Printing to Commercial Printer (184641)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Publisher 98, if you attempt to set up a publication for outside printing or create a PostScript file for commercial printing, you may receive one of the following errors:
Windows is low on memory. Please save your work and close other programs before you continue working.

-or-

Cannot load the printer driver.

CAUSE

The commercial printer driver you are attempting to use may be damaged or you may have deleted it. These commercial printer drivers that ship with Publisher are the MS Publisher Imagesetter and the MS Publisher Color Printer.

RESOLUTION

Reinstall the Microsoft Publisher printer drivers by following these steps:
  1. On the Windows Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. From the list of programs, click Microsoft Publisher 98 and then click Add/Remove. If you are prompted to insert the Publisher 98 compact disc into the CD-ROM drive, insert it.
  4. In the Microsoft Publisher 98 Maintenance Mode Setup dialog box, click Add/Remove.
  5. In the Installed Options list, click to clear the Commercial Printing check box. Click Continue.
  6. After Setup has completed, restart the Publisher Setup program.
  7. In the Microsoft Publisher 98 Maintenance Mode Setup dialog box, click Add/Remove.
  8. In the Installed Options list, click to select the Commercial Printing check box.
  9. Click Continue.
