PRJ: Copied Project Tasks Do Not Appear in Outlook Task List (184611)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Project 98 for Windows
This article was previously published under Q184611 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Project, if you duplicate tasks that are assigned to a
resource, the duplicated tasks may not appear in the resource's task list
in Microsoft Outlook.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs when the following conditions are true:
- Resources assigned to a project display their tasks in the task list
in Microsoft Outlook.
-and-
- In Microsoft Project, you copy one or more tasks that are
assigned to a resource and have also been accepted by that
resource.
-and-
- In Microsoft Project , you paste the copied tasks as new tasks in
the project.
Outlook incorrectly identifies the copied tasks as the same task that
already exists in the task list.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, do not duplicate an entire task, but only
copy and paste selected fields into a new task but. If you select and copy
the entire task, you will experience the symptoms described earlier.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft
Project listed above.
This problem was corrected in Microsoft Project 98 for Windows, Service
Release 1 (SR-1).
