Gradient Fill Feature Does Not Work with 256 Colors (184604)

SYMPTOMS

When you view a window's title bar (the bar at the top of the window), the title bar may not display a fading effect between two colors (a gradient fill).

CAUSE

The behavior can occur if your display adapter is configured to use a color palette of 256 colors or less.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, configure your display adapter to use a color palette of more than 256 colors. To do so, use the following steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Display.
  2. Click the Settings tab, under Colors, click High Color (16 bit), and then click OK.
  3. Restart your computer when you are prompted.

The gradient fill feature requires 16-bit color or higher.
