XL98: Clicking Row or Column Divider Causes Recalculation (184441)

When you click a row or column divider, formulas in all open workbooks are
recalculated.
CAUSE
This problem occurs if both of the following conditions are true:
- The calculation mode for the active workbook is set to Automatic.
-and-
- You click the row or column divider but do not resize the column or row.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, set the calculation mode to Manual. To do
this, follow these steps:
- On the Tools menu, click Preferences.
- In the Preferences dialog box, click the Calculation tab. Click Manual
to select the manual calculation mode.
NOTE: when you use the manual calculation mode, formulas are not
automatically recalculated. This may cause formulas to appear to be
incorrect. To recalculate the values on the sheet at any time, press F9.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem with the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article.
