OFF98: Cannot Restart Computer with Favorites Program Running (184302)

When you attempt to restart your computer, you cannot do so. When you
switch to Finder, you receive the following error message:
The computer cannot restart because one of the running applications
would not quit. Try switching to the remaining applications and choosing
Quit from the File menu.
When you attempt to shut down your computer, you cannot do so. When you
switch to Finder, you receive the following error message:
The computer cannot shut down because one of the running applications
would not quit. Try switching to the remaining applications and choosing
Quit from the File menu.
CAUSE
This problem occurs if the Favorites program is running when you attempt to
shut down or restart your computer.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, quit the Favorites program. To do this, follow
these steps:
- Click Favorites on the Application menu.
- Click Quit on the File menu.
Shut down or restart your computer.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article.
