IntelliPoint: Focus and SmartSpeed Features Are Unavailable (184285)

SYMPTOMS

When you use the IntelliPoint software, the Focus and SmartSpeed features may be unavailable in the Mouse tool in Control Panel.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you are using the Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 View As Web Page feature. The View As Web Page feature provides some of the functions of the IntelliPoint software. To avoid any possible conflicts, the Focus and SmartSpeed features of the IntelliPoint software are automatically disabled if the View As Web Page feature is enabled in Internet Explorer 4.0.

RESOLUTION

To enable the Focus and SmartSpeed features, disable the View As Web Page feature in Internet Explorer. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Display.
  3. On the Web tab, click the View my Active Desktop as a Web page check box to clear it, and then click OK.
  4. If you are prompted to enable Active Desktop, click No.
