OL98: Unable to Use Drag and Drop with Plain Text Message (184243)

You cannot drag text from a Microsoft Outlook 98 e-mail message formatted
as plain text into another Outlook message, regardless of its message
format, or into a Microsoft Word 97 document, a Microsoft WordPad document,
or into a Microsoft Notepad file.
NOTE: This symptom may also occur with other programs.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook 98.

You can use drag-and-drop editing to copy text from an Outlook message that
uses the Microsoft Rich Text or HTML message format.

WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, use any of the following methods:
- Select the text you want, and use the Copy and Paste commands on the
Edit menu, use the shortcut menu which appears when you right-click
the text, or use key combinations (CTRL+C and CTRL+V).
- In the open plain text message, click Reply on the Actions menu, and on
the Format menu in the reply message, click Rich Text (HTML). You can
now drag text to another message or document.
