PPT98: Existing Sounds Play when Recording Narrations (183910)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 98 Macintosh Edition
This article was previously published under Q183910 SYMPTOMS
When you record a narration for a PowerPoint presentation, any existing sounds,
midi files, previous narrations, and movies will also play back with their
sounds at the same time. This behavior is different than what is listed in the
"Record a voice narration" Help topic in PowerPoint. This topic says:
Because you can't record and play sounds at the same time, while you're
recording you won't hear other sounds you inserted in your slide show.
CAUSE
The help topic information is incorrect for the Macintosh computer and operating
system because the Macintosh hardware and sound system drivers allow you to
record and playback sound at the same time.
RESOLUTION
To record your narration without recording any sound from your presentation,
reduce the volume on your speakers to zero.
