IAS: Some 3rd-Party Radius Servers Cannot Proxy to MS Radius (183338)

SYMPTOMS

Livingston Radius server version 2.0.x and Merit Radius server version 2.4.x cannot proxy or forward a user name and password to Microsoft[ASCII 146]s Radius server and authenticate users successfully.

RESOLUTION

The resolution for Merit Radius users is to upgrade to version 3.6.x or later, which supports proxy state per the RFC. None of the shipping versions of Livingston Radius server (version 2.0.x) supports the standard; however, version 2.1.x beta supports proxy state. To obtain the beta, contact Livingston Support.
