The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Natural Keyboard Elite
This article was previously published under Q183255 SYMPTOMS
When you connect a Natural Keyboard Elite to the Universal Serial Bus
(USB) port on a computer, the keyboard may not respond the first time you
attempt to log on to Microsoft Windows 98.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because you must log on to Windows 98 before Windows
can detect the Natural Keyboard Elite and install the drivers necessary
to use it.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
- Shut down and turn off your computer.
- Connect the Natural Keyboard Elite to the USB port on the computer.
- Connect a PS/2 keyboard to a PS/2 port on the computer.
- Use the PS/2 keyboard to log on to Windows 98. Windows 98 detects the
Natural Keyboard Elite and installs the drivers.
- Shut down and turn off the computer.
- Disconnect the PS/2 keyboard.
- Start the computer and use the Natural Keyboard Elite to log on to
Windows 98.
