XL98: Arrow Key Moves Insertion Point to Second Character (182978)

In Microsoft Excel, when you select text in a text box or cell and then
press an arrow key, the insertion point is moved to the second character
from the left or right side of the selection, depending on whether you
press the LEFT ARROW or RIGHT ARROW key.
CAUSE
This problem may occur when the following conditions are true:
- You select text in a text box or a cell.
-and-
- You then press either the LEFT ARROW or RIGHT ARROW key.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, select the text (moving from left to right),
and then press the RIGHT ARROW key.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Excel 98 for
Macintosh. We are researching this problem and will post new information
here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
MORE INFORMATION
In most Macintosh programs, if you select text and press an arrow key, the
insertion point should move to the end of the selection in the direction of
the arrow key that you press. Microsoft Office 98 does not follow this
convention.
