The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft PowerPoint 98 Macintosh Edition

This article was previously published under Q182843

SYMPTOMS

When printing to a black and white printer from Microsoft PowerPoint 98 Macintosh Edition, some objects may be printed as solid black. If the black and white color matching option is selected, the following types of objects may be printed as solid back:
  • Clip Gallery Objects.
  • Microsoft Organization Chart Objects.
  • Microsoft Graph Objects.
NOTE: Office drawing objects (AutoShapes) that contain a fill color will be printed in grayscale.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, change the color matching setting of the printer driver to the Color/Grayscale option. To do this, use the following steps.

NOTE: The following steps are specific to the LaserWriter 8.5.1. printer driver. Steps for other printer drivers may vary.
  1. On the File menu, click Print.
  2. From the Printer Options list, click the Color Matching option.
  3. From the Print Color list, click the Color/Grayscale option. To save this setting for future use, click Save Settings. If you do not save the setting, the selection you made is only valid for the current print job.
Now your objects will be printed in grayscale.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
