WD98: Macro Alert Opening Template Created from WordSettings (5) (182727)

SYMPTOMS

If you open a template that was created from a Word Settings (5) file, you receive the macro Warning dialog box:
The document you are opening contains macros or customizations. Some macros may contain viruses that could harm your computer. If you are sure this document is from a trusted source, click Enable Macros. If you are not sure and want to prevent any macros from running, click Disable Macros.
This is a false warning and you may click either Enable Macros or Disable Macros to successfully open this template.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you open a Word Settings (5) file, save it as a template outside of the default template folder, and then reopen the template.

WORKAROUND

To avoid the Warning dialog box, place the template in the default Templates folder which is normally in the following location:

Microsoft Office 98:Templates

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
