Money 98: Check Type Defaults to Last Selected Check Type (182029)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Money 98
  • Microsoft Money 98 Deluxe Edition
  • Microsoft Money 98 Financial Suite

This article was previously published under Q182029

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Money 98, you cannot set the type of check to print on a per file basis. For example, assume you have two different Money data files: one for business using Laser Voucher checks, and one for personal using Laser Wallet checks. Whenever you print checks, you must open Print Setup and select the correct check type if you have switched to the other file.

CAUSE

Money 98 uses the last check type you selected for all files.

STATUS

This behavior is by design in Microsoft Money 98.

MORE INFORMATION

Because Money does not remember the check type for each file, you can verify the check type prior to printing the checks. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. On the File menu, point to Print Setup, and then click Check Setup.
  2. Under Check, click to select the correct check type in the Type list.
  3. Verify that all other fields are correct, and then click OK.
NOTE: In earlier versions of Money this issue did not occur, because check type was set per file.
