Euro Currency Not Available in Windows NT Character Sets (182005)

In 1999, countries in the European Community (EC) will begin to use a
single currency named the euro. The euro has an associated symbol called
the euro currency symbol. There currently is not a keystroke in Windows NT
that maps to the euro currency symbol.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows NT 4.0. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the

For your convenience, the English version of this post-SP3 hotfix has been
posted to the following Internet location. NOTE: This Post-SP3 hotfix was updated on May 18, 1999 to include the following fonts. The updated version of this hotfix will ship in the next Windows NT service pack:
- Arial Black
- Comic Sans MS
- Impact
- Lucida Sans Unicode
- Lucida Console
- Tahoma
- Verdana
For developers who use the euro currency symbol, you may need to recompile the resources on a computer running Windows NT 4.0 with SP4.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Windows NT 4.0. This problem was first corrected in Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4.0 Service Pack 4.
