OL98: Some Fonts Appear as Question Marks When You Use WordMail (180227)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Outlook 98
- Microsoft Word 97 for Windows
This article was previously published under Q180227 SYMPTOMS
When you use Microsoft Word 97 as the e-mail editor in Microsoft Outlook 98, and you use the Internet Mail service, messages that are formatted with certain fonts may appear as a series of question marks (???).
RESOLUTION
This behavior only occurs when you are using WordMail. To switch to the Outlook e-mail editor rather than WordMail, follow these steps:
- On the Tools menu, click Options, then click the Mail Format tab.
- In the Send in this message format list, click to select Microsoft Outlook Rich Text instead of Microsoft Word, and click then OK.
When you compose new messages in Outlook, you can use the same font and the message will display correctly.
