PPT98: Gradients Don't Print When Black & White Option Selected (180075)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 98 Macintosh Edition
This article was previously published under Q180075 SYMPTOMS
If you print a slide that contains shaded (gradient) fills to a black and white
printer, those fill effects may not print. If the gradient is applied to the
slide background, the slide prints with a solid white background.
CAUSE
PowerPoint 98 has a feature called Black and White Printing. This feature
optimizes the way color slides print to black and white printers. PowerPoint for
Windows 95 version 7.0 and PowerPoint 97 for Windows also have this feature.
By default, the Black and White Printing feature prints the slide background as
white and all text as black. Shaded fills are printed as solid fills.
RESOLUTION
Before you print, clear the Black & White check box in the Printing dialog
box.
NOTE: If you are printing to a color printer that uses the LaserWriter 8.5.x
printer driver, the Black & White check box may be hard to find. To find this
option, follow these steps:
- On the File menu, click Print.
- In the lists in the upper left corner of the Print dialog box, click
Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Click to clear the Black & White check box.
STATUS
This feature is under review and will be considered for inclusion in a
future release. Microsoft welcomes suggestions or comments about changes in
