XL98: Progress Meter Overwrites File Name in Status Bar (176073)

The file name that appears in the status bar when you open a file is
overwritten by the progress meter. The progress meter may also shift left
on the status bar.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when you open any text file in Microsoft Excel.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this
problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge
Base as it becomes available.
