OFF98: Chart Is Pasted as Picture Instead of Graph Object (176072)

When you copy a chart from the Microsoft Graph program, and then attempt to
paste it in a Microsoft Office 98 Macintosh Edition program, the only file
format that is available is the picture format. You cannot paste the chart
as a Microsoft Graph object.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when you do the following:
- You insert a Microsoft Graph object into your document by clicking Chart
on the Insert menu.
-and-
- You copy the chart, close the Microsoft Graph program, and then click
Paste Special on the Edit menu to paste the chart
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, do not copy the chart until you have switched
to the document. To switch to the document, click "Quit and Return to
Document" on the File menu.
NOTE: In Microsoft PowerPoint, this command is "Quit and Return to
Presentation." In Microsoft Excel, the command is "Quit and Return to
Workbook."
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem
and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it
becomes available.
