XL97: Keyboard Input for RichTextBox Is Entered in a Cell (174445)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel 97, if you try to type in a RichTextBox control, the text may appear in a cell on the worksheet.

CAUSE

You may experience this problem if the following conditions are true:

  • You are using the RichTextBox control, version 1.0.2922, that ships with Microsoft Visual Basic version 4.0. -and-

  • You place the RichTextBox control on a worksheet. -and-

  • You try to type directly in the RichTextBox control.

WORKAROUND

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

The controls that are installed with Microsoft Excel 97 are the only ActiveX controls that are fully tested and supported for use with Microsoft Excel 97.
