PRJ98: Project Stops Responding when Saving AutoFilter (174367)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project 98, if you save a custom AutoFilter when a filter is already applied, you may receive the following error message:

Windows 95

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
If you click Details, you receive an error message similar to the following:
WINPROJ caused an invalid page fault in module WINPROJ.EXE at 0137:302b54dc.

Windows NT

An application error has occurred and an application error log is being generated.

Exception access violation (oxc0000005), address:ox3004290b

CAUSE

This error occurs when you apply a filter with more than 40 rows and then apply a custom AutoFilter.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, do not save an AutoFilter when a filter with more than 40 rows is applied.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft Project listed above.
