INTRODUCTION

When you install Microsoft Money, the Setup program relies on the Microsoft Internet Explorer Setup program to install the following components:
  • Web browser
  • The Wininet.dll file
  • The Schannel.dll file
Reinstalling Money does not start the Internet Explorer Setup program. Therefore, these three components are not installed. During the set up of Money, Internet Explorer is installed unless a later version of Internet Explorer is already present on the computer.

By design, you cannot stop the installation of Internet Explorer or choose to exclude the installation of Internet Explorer. Money requires the version of Internet Explorer that includes 128-bit security to function correctly.

MORE INFORMATION

If you have to reinstall Internet Explorer, follow these steps:
  1. Insert the installation CD-ROM for your version of Money in the CD drive. Press and hold down the SHIFT key when you insert the CD-ROM to prevent the Money Setup program from starting automatically.
  2. Click Start, click Run type Drive:\Ie, and then click OK.

Note In this path name, Drive is the drive letter of the CD drive.
  3. Double-click the appropriate executable file to install Internet Explorer:
    • Double-click Ie6setup.exe if you are running Microsoft Money 2003 or a later version.
    • Double-click Ie5setup.exe if you are running Money 2000, Money 2001, or Money 2002.
    • Double-click Ie4setup.exe if you are running Money 99.
    • Double-click Msie302.exe if you are running Money 98.
To connect over the Internet with secure sites, you must have the 128-bit version of the Schannel file. Installing Internet Explorer makes sure that a 40-bit version of the Schannel file is upgraded to use the correct security level.
