XL97: Calculating Worksheet Causes Crash After Running Module (173272)

When you calculate your worksheet, error messages similar to the following
may appear.
Microsoft Windows 95
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be
shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
If you click Details, you may receive an error message similar to the
following:
Excel caused an invalid page fault in module Excel.exe at
0137:3022d421.
Microsoft Windows NT
Dr. Watson for Windows NT
An application error has occurred and an application error log is
being generated.
Excel.exe
Exception: access violation (0xc0000005), Address 0x3022d41.
CAUSE
This problem may occur when the following conditions are true:
- Your workbook is set to manual calculation mode.
-and-
- You run Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications code that performs a
Copy operation on a range of cells that contain a formula entered as an
array.
-and-
- The Visual Basic code performs a Paste Special operation with the
copied cells, pasting only the values into the worksheet.
-and-
- You calculate your worksheet.

You can use the Value property of the range instead of using the Copy method followed by the PasteSpecial method.
For example, you can use the following code to remove the formulas from the selected range of cells:
Selection.Value = Selection.Value
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article. This problem no longer occurs in
Microsoft Excel 2000.
