FP97: Webs Created By Wizards Contain Links to Offensive Sites (171676)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft FrontPage 97 for Windows with Bonus Pack
This article was previously published under Q171676 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft FrontPage Explorer, when you create a Web using one of the
wizards or templates that uses an example link, the link does not point
to the desired location. For example, if you use the Employee Directory
template, your directory may contain one or more links to a site that
contains obscene or offensive material.
CAUSE
The FrontPage 97 Personal Web Wizard contains some example Uniform
Resource Locators (URLs) that are not owned by Microsoft Corporation.
STATUS
Microsoft is aware of this problem and has registered the following
addresses. NOTE: These domain names were registered after the release of
Microsoft FrontPage 97.
Mailto:Example@Microsoft.com
This problem was corrected in Microsoft FrontPage 98.
MORE INFORMATION
When you run the FrontPage Personal Web Wizard, FrontPage creates Web
content that contains two example URLs which are meant to demonstrate how
to create links to other Web sites and to be modified to point to the
site you want. Microsoft does not own either of these URLs and therefore
does not control the content.
