When you start Internet Explorer, you may receive the following error
message:
Due to network or related problems, Internet Explorer could
not download your Auto-Proxy Script.
Do you wish to with continue with standard proxy settings?
If you click No, Internet Explorer starts with no proxy settings, and you
may not be able to access external Web sites beyond the proxy server (a
server on a local area network that lets you connect to the Internet
without using a modem). If you click Yes, Internet Explorer attempts to
use standard proxy settings already stored in the registry. Changes you
make in the Options dialog box may not be retained, or some or all of the
settings may be unavailable.
CAUSE
The Automatic Configuration option is enabled, but the specified automatic
configuration Web address is invalid.
RESOLUTION
To disable or verify automatic configuration settings, use the following
steps:
- In Internet Explorer, click Options on the View menu.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Click Automatic Configuration.
- Clear the URL box, or verify that the Web address specified is valid.
Note that this setting may be used by a system or network administrator
to automatically configure your installation of Internet Explorer and
may contain settings that should not be changed. If you are not sure,
see your system or network administrator before changing this setting.

Additionally, the URL box can be disabled to prevent users from
changing settings that have been preset or disabled for security or
administrative purposes. If the URL box is unavailable, see your
administrator.
