SUMMARY

In Microsoft Excel, you can use Microsoft Map (Microsoft Data Map in Microsoft Excel 7.0) to graphically represent data associated with a geographic area. In order for Microsoft Map to recognize a territory, such as a country or province, the name must be a valid name or abbreviation.

To see a listing of valid geographic territories that Microsoft Map recognizes, open the file, Mapstats.xls. This file is installed with the Microsoft Map program and is located in the following folder
   C:\Program Files\Common Files\Data Map\Data.
				
Mapstats.xls contains the following geographic and demographic information:
  • World demographic data by country
  • United States demographic data by state
  • Canada demographic data by province
  • Mexico demographic data by state
  • Europe demographic data by country
  • United Kingdom & Republic of Ireland by county
  • Australia demographic data by state
  • South Africa and neighboring countries by region
