BUG: File Attachments NULL when Received via Internet Transport (166931)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Extended Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI)
This article was previously published under Q166931 SYMPTOMS
The Name of File attachment is NULL when a message is received by a Simple
MAPI, Msmapi32.ocx, or OLE Messaging client via the Internet Transport
Provider.
CAUSE
The file name of an attachment is stored in several attachment properties.
The Internet Transport Provider does not place the name of the file
attachment in a property that the above mentioned clients can access to
retrieve the file names associated with the message.
RESOLUTION
This is a bug in the Internet Transport Provider (Minet32.dll). We are
working on a fix for this that will be released in the near future.
Currently the only workaround is to write the necessary code in (extended)
MAPI.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft Internet
Transport Provider. We are researching this bug and will post new
information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
