Err Msg: Setup Has Detected That Your Autoexec.bat and ... (166032)

SYMPTOMS

When you install the IntelliPoint software version 2.0 on your computer, you may receive the following error message:
Setup has detected that your Autoexec.bat and Config.sys files are
marked as read-only or write protected. Set these files to read-write
privileges, and re-run setup.
However, neither the Autoexec.bat file nor the Config.sys file is marked with the Read-Only attribute.

CAUSE

The Dosstart.bat file is marked with the Read-Only attribute.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
  1. In Windows Explorer, use the right mouse button to click the Dosstart.bat file in the Windows folder, and then click Properties On the menu that appears.
  2. Click the Read-Only check box to clear it, and then click OK.
  3. Run the IntelliPoint Setup program again.
