Volume Control May Not Be Installed with Some Sound Cards (163886)

The Volume Control tool may not be available after you install Windows.
CAUSE
Tools such as Volume Control are installed based on the hardware detected
during the installation of Windows. If the computer contains an ISA
Plug and Play device that is not turned on by the BIOS, the device is not
detected until after Windows is installed.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, use either of the following methods:
Method 1
When you install Windows, use the Custom Setup option. When you are
prompted to select the components you want, select Volume Control in
the Multimedia section.
Method 2
If Windows is already installed, follow these steps to install
Volume Control:
- In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- On the Windows Setup tab, click Multimedia, and then click
Details.
- Click the Volume Control check box to select it.
- Click OK.
- Click OK.
