NTBACKUP Reports Verify Errors on Files in Mac Volume After SP5 (163815)

SYMPTOMS

During a verification of a Macintosh volume, the Backup Status window shows following error:
*File information found on tape:
*%FileName% %Size% %Date% %Time%
*File information found on disk:
*%FileName% %Size% %Date% %Time%
*Difference encountered in alternate file data.
*The file %FileName% is different.
The name, size, date, and time information is identical on the tape and disk information.

This problem did not occur under Windows NT 3.51 Service Pack 4.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 3.51.

A supported fix is now available, but has not been fully regression- tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. Unless you are severely impacted by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Service Pack that contains this fix.
