PPT97: AutoShapes in Graph Shift When Returning to PowerPoint (163782)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Graph 97
- Microsoft PowerPoint 97 for Windows
- Microsoft Word 97 for Windows
- Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows
This article was previously published under Q163782 SYMPTOMS
When you add an AutoShape object or an image to a Graph 97 object while you
are editing it, it appears to shift when you return to one of the Office
applications listed at the beginning of this article.
CAUSE
The behavior occurs when you edit a Graph object at less than 100% zoom.
When you edit the graph object, it shrinks slightly. When you exit
Microsoft Graph, the graph enlarges slightly. OfficeArt objects (including
AutoShape objects) which you add to the graph do not shrink and grow. As a
result, they appear to change position with respect to the graph, but
instead the graph is changing. This problem is less obvious when you place
the AutoShape object in the center of the graph versus at the edge of the
graph.
This behavior does not occur if your zoom percentage is 100% before you
edit your Graph 97 object.
RESOLUTION
To correct the placement of shifted AutoShapes, use the following steps:
- Change the zoom percentage to 100%.
- Double-click the graph object.
- Move the AutoShape object or image to the correct location.
- Click outside the graph.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article.
