SYMPTOMS
If you are using a Mustek scanner and you use the Smart Task Scan
option in Microsoft Picture It! you may get a black and white image
instead of a color image, or the scanned image may be distorted or
otherwise unsatisfactory.
CAUSE
Mustek scanner drivers are not compatible with Picture It!'s Smart
Task Scan feature. Mustek is aware of the problem and may fix it in
future updates to their scanner drivers. You can download new drivers
from Mustek's Internet web site at http://www.mustek.com.WORKAROUND
If updating the scanner driver does not fix the problem, scan using
the option called Your Scanner Software (version 2.0), or Custom Scan
(version 1.0).

Most Mustek scanner drivers are 16-bit drivers designed to be
Compatible with either Windows 3.1 or Windows 95. Because they are
based on an older design they are unable to take advantage of the
advanced automated process involved in Smart Task Scan.
