This article was previously published under Q163393 SYMPTOMS
You get the following error message when trying to save a file in Word:
Cannot save the file. '<path><filename>' is not a valid filename.
This error will occur when the following conditions are true:
- Your Windows 95 Regional Settings are set to Greek
- Your Windows 95 Keyboard Language option is set to Greek
CAUSE
The Windows 95 code page is not correctly set to Greek by the Windows 95
Regional Settings.
WORKAROUNDMethod 1: Change the Keyboard Setting
Create the document using the Greek Keyboard setting, and then change the
Keyboard setting to English before you save the document.
NOTE: Be sure you are typing English characters, otherwise you will get the
error message if you type the file name using the Greek keyboard settings
when saving the file.
Method 2: Use Microsoft Windows NT, version 4.0
When setting the Windows Regional Settings, click to select the "Set as
system default locale" option located on the Regional Settings tab.
