The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft SQL Server 6.5 Service Pack 2 and later
This article was previously published under Q163128
BUG #: 16465 (Windows NT: 6.5)
SYMPTOMS
UPDATE and INSERT commands run against a table with multiple text/image
columns on SQL 6.5 Service Pack 2 may appear to work correctly
but may result in errors reported by DBCC CHECKTABLE.
WORKAROUND
If you encounter this problem, attempt to copy the data out of the table
using SELECT..INTO, the Bulk Copy Program (BCP), or INSERT..SELECT.
To avoid this problem, use either of the following workarounds:
- Define all text/image columns in a single table as NOT NULL.
- Do not use more than one text/image column in a table.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft SQL Server
version 6.5. This problem has been corrected in U.S. Service Pack 3 for
Microsoft SQL Server version 6.5. For more information, contact your
primary support provider.
